The foods many of us eat affect these levels, including things like citrus fruits, tomato products, and sugars. The drinks we consume can do that, too, including sodas, coffee, and sports drinks.
In order to balance this out, we need to consume items that are more alkaline, or basic. This can include a lot of different foods, such as honey, nuts, and produce. Not all produce is alkaline, with tomatoes being the prime example. However, most greens are something that would fall under the alkaline category.
If you can, opt for salads regularly, and add nuts and a honey-based salad dressing to help reduce the acidity in your mouth.
