Some people could eat nothing but sugar and would still have a perfect smile, at least in theory. As for the rest of us, a cavity now and again is something that we have come to expect.
However, there are also some who get recurrent cavities. Even with treatment, they get more cavities regularly. When this happens, there is usually a cause. Here are a few reasons that someone may struggle with recurrent cavities.
What Can Cause Recurrent Cavities?
Soft enamel can cause a cavity issue. This often happens when the mouth struggles with acid erosion. It can also happen with poor oral hygiene. If someone does not brush thoroughly, floss regularly, or come in for regular cleanings, their mouth is more likely to face the consequences, which can be a lot of cavities. If you have problems with cavities that never seem to end, find out if there is anything that you could be doing differently to fix the issue.
What Can Be Done to Help with Recurrent Cavities?
Regular cavities require treatment. If you do not get your cavities treated as soon as they start, the bacteria within the tooth can spread, giving you more cavities. For those with weak enamel, you can also get fluoride treatments to help keep the teeth strong and prevent future cavity issues. Taking proper care of your mouth is the most important thing that you can do to prevent all types of cavities.
