Appointments

First Patient Visit

Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients, and we ask the same courtesy from your family. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately, giving a minimum of 48 hours notice to avoid any missed appointment fees. We realize that unexpected illnesses and emergencies may occur, but we ask for your assistance in this regard.

Our office strives to schedule appointments at your convenience and when time is available.

Insurance & Patient Co-payments

Working with Patients

If you have insurance we will help you determine the coverage you have available. In order to best assist you, it is important that you submit your dental and/or medical insurance information to us with your New Patient Paperwork a minimum of two business days prior to your scheduled appointment. This allows us time to contact your insurance company and obtain a breakdown of the benefits you or your employer purchased from the company. In addition, you will want to bring a dental benefit book that your carrier should be able to provide. Our business team will be happy to help you understand your policy.

Should you be diagnosed with treatment services, we will be able to provide you with a detailed plan which will give you an estimate of how much your insurance company may pay for each procedure, as well as the portion you will be expected to pay at the time of service.

Professional care is provided to you, our patient family, and not to an insurance company. The insurance company is responsible only to the patient as a benefit from the individual or employer plan purchase, and the patient is responsible to the doctor. We will assist you every way we can in filing your dental or medical claim and handling insurance questions from our office on your behalf.

Financial Policy

In an effort to reduce the cost to you, the patient, while maintaining the highest level of professional care, we have established the financial policy as follows:
•  Payment of any account balance is due in full within 20 days of statement date
•  We gladly accept Visa, Discover, American Express or MasterCard payments
•  Payment plans are available through Care Credit

Consultations

Developing a Treatment Plan

We are happy to schedule a second-opinion consultation with our doctor to discuss treatment diagnosed for you. It is important to us that our patients are committed fully to a recommended course of treatment, and we make every effort to provide all available information on the types of treatment completed at Boones Landing Dental Center as well as options to make appointments comfortable.

All patients that are referred to our office from another practice, or who have self-referred themselves for a second opinion are required to undergo a complete examination by our doctor before she provides her diagnosis opinion. Please ensure that all available x-rays and chart notes from your prior office have been transferred to us prior to the scheduled appointment for review. Please note that many offices require 7–14 business days to transfer records.

It is imperative that we have all available dental (and medical if related to trauma or medically diagnosed disorder) insurance information in a timely manner, as we will be providing you with a comprehensive treatment estimate after your consultation with the doctor.

If you have questions about the consultation services we provide, please email us today or call at (503) 601-0610.

Emergencies
If you have never suffered a dental emergency, consider yourself lucky. If you should suffer one, however, you should know what to do. The actions you take immediately following the emergency could mean the difference between a minor repair and one that is very serious and results in permanent loss of your tooth or worse!

A Knocked-out Tooth

The most crucial thing to remember about a knocked out tooth is how to preserve it, especially if you are dealing with a permanent tooth. The key is to keep it moist. Before you pick it up, however, make sure that you can do so from the top of the tooth, not the bottom as you could touch and damage the roots. If you can easily put the tooth back in the socket, do so. If not, place it in your mouth, between your cheek and gums. If that makes you uneasy, you can also store it in a glass of milk.

A Cracked Tooth

A cracked tooth is not as serious as a knocked out tooth, but it still requires an emergency dental visit. As soon as you are able, rinse your mouth out with warm water. You should rinse until you can no longer see blood. Once your mouth is clean, apply a clean, cold compress to the area to limit the amount of swelling that occurs as well as the amount of pain you suffer.

In either of these dental emergencies you should call us at (503) 601-0610 and get to the dental office as soon as possible.
Comfort Menu
At Boones Landing Dental Center, your comfort is our priority.

Nitrous Oxide

We understand that some patients have had traumatic experiences in dentistry, or have other anxieties about their treatment. Dr. Boone strives to make each patient comfortable and to meet your individual needs. For our patients with anxiety, sedation dentistry with nitrous oxide may be the answer.

Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative agent that will help you relax. It is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose.

Nitrous oxide, sometimes called "laughing gas," is one option Dr. Boone may offer to help make you more comfortable during certain procedures. It is not intended to put you to sleep. You will be able to hear and respond to any requests or directions. Dr. Boone will ask you to breathe normally through your nose, and within a few short minutes you should start to feel the effects of the nitrous oxide. You may feel light-headed or a tingling in your arms and legs. Some people say their arms and legs feel heavy. Ultimately, you should feel calm and comfortable. The effects of nitrous oxide wear off soon after the mask is removed. Talk to us about whether nitrous oxide would be a good option for you at your next appointment.

Oral (Conscious) Sedation

Oral sedation dentistry allows Dr. Boone to create a safe and comfortable dental experience for patients who avoid the dentist out of fear.

With sedation, your dentist can work more effectively by helping you become as comfortable as possible using well established and proven methods. There are a variety of sedation medications that are taken orally or "sublingually" (under the tongue). All sedation medicines are administered at our offices, under the care of an assistant.

This type of dental care does require that you have a driver to bring you home from your appointment, as it takes several hours for the medication to completely wear off. For more information about oral sedation at Boones Landing Dental Center please Contact Us today!

IV Sedation

Another option we offer at Boones Landing Dental Center is IV Sedation. For patients who have failed oral conscious sedation and have extensive treatment needs, as well as some children with special needs or who have medical conditions, we may recommend general anesthesia. Depending upon your medical history, we will make this full-sleep option available to you either in our office, or in the hospital.

During anesthesia, you will be given IV medicines to assist in falling completely asleep. The anesthesiologist will be constantly monitoring their progress throughout the dental appointment, making any corrections or handling any concerns that may arise.

These appointments are generally 6 to 7 hours in length, and will require several consultative appointments to coordinate insurance plan benefits, financial arrangements, and health histories.
