Teeth Sensitivity – Causes, Symptoms, and TreatmentTeeth sensitivity is a common dental problem that can affect anyone from the age of 20 onwards. It is characterized by sharp, stabbing pain-like sensation that resonates throughout the teeth and may even extend to the roots in case of hypersensitivity. The sensation can be extremely uncomfortable and may worsen over time as we age.

The dentine is home to numerous microscopic channels that, when exposed, become sensitive to external triggers such as hot and cold beverages. Exposure to cold drinks, coffer stimulates the nerves inside the tooth, resultantly producing the painful and uncomfortable sensation that characterizes teeth sensitivity.

The most common cause of teeth sensitivity is enamel wear. There are multiple reasons why you may be suffering enamel corrosion. Tooth grinding (bruxism), excessive teeth brushing, tooth decay, and high intake of acidic foods are just some of the reasons for enamel wear.
