What are The Indicators Of Gingivitis And Periodontitis?

Posted on 11/8/2021 by Office - Boone DMD
What are The Indicators Of Gingivitis And Periodontitis? Most people are unaware that they have dental problems. It is possible to develop dental problems without experiencing any signs. Nevertheless, the following signs of gum disease can occur: Cheeks that are swollen, uncomfortable, or inflammatory, as well as gums that leak when you brush or wash your gums. Cheeks that have migrated away from the teeth, chewing pain, and a foul-smelling odor persist even after cleaning your teeth. To get more information on other manifestations of dental problems, call our office today.

Gingivitis and periodontitis are caused by what?

Your gums adhere to your teeth at a lower place than the visible gum margins. This creates a tiny area known as a sulcus. Food and plaque can become stuck in this area, causing gum infection, often known as gingivitis.

Plaque is a thin bacterial coating; it develops on the surface of teeth all the time. Corrosion hardens and develops tartar as it progresses. When plaque spreads beyond the gum line, it might cause an infection.

Gingivitis, if left untreated, can cause the gums to detach from the teeth. This can harm the soft tissue and bone that support the teeth. The tooth may become weak and insecure. If the disease worsens, the teeth may eventually die. Schedule a consultative appointment with us for more information on the dental milestone.
