Should I Be Worried About My Bad Breath Condition?

An odor commonly referred to as halitosis, is a sign of dental infections such as gum disease. Bad breath is brought by the invasion of bacteria in the mouth due to poor dental hygiene. Furthermore, lack of saliva also leads to a foul odor as the accumulated plaque fails to be flushed away, resulting in dead cells' decomposition, which causes bad breath.
Use of Tobacco Products
Using cigars and other tobacco products is associated with bad breath in the mouth. Worse enough, most smokers remain reluctant to observe proper dental care, which further fuels the condition. People who tend to smoke are prone to gum disease, also associated with bad breath.
Poor Dental Health
Failure to brush or floss your mouth results in a lousy breath. Food remains and acidic contents deposited in the mouth accumulate to form plaque, which forms a complex component, tartar when left unattended. Tartar irritates the gums due to the production of toxins that make the gums react, resulting in inflammation and bleeding. The net result of such infection is bad breath.
Medications
Using some medicines encourages the production of bad breath in the mouth. Some medications decrease saliva production in the mouth, offering bacteria fertile ground to invade. Furthermore, the medicines may contain ingredients that, when broken down, produce a foul odor in the mouth.
Foodstuffs
The intake of some foods and spices goes a long way in increasing the foul odor in your mouth. Garlic and onions are associated with bad breath as their absorption into the bloodstream affects one's breathe when carried to the lungs.
